Why this blog exists

I got tired of losing my own notes.

I’ve solved the same problems a dozen times over. Not because I forgot, but because the write-ups were buried on a client laptop I can no longer get into. So I built somewhere to put them. Searchable, structured, and still here the next time I hit the same wall.

The community carried me when I was starting out. Forums, blog posts, the occasional stranger who’d written up exactly the thing I was stuck on at 11pm. This is me putting some of that back.

What you’ll find here

Mostly VMware. VCF architecture, NSX, vSAN, hardening, certifications. Written the way I’d document it for myself: the actual commands, and the parts that trip people up called out explicitly. Some posts are short. Real work is like that.

Background

Over 20 years in IT infrastructure. Server rooms, client engagements, and a lot of late-night lab time.

I specialise in VMware and virtualisation, alongside enterprise storage, networking, and security. Most of my work is designing and building infrastructure from scratch for large organisations, shaped around what they actually need rather than what the datasheet says. The technology is usually the easy part. Getting the design right, and getting everyone to agree on it, is the work.
